Be Properly Positioned!
Genesis 39, 1 Kings 17:1-16, Genesis 22:9-14, Matthew 17:1-9, Genesis 32:24-30, Exodus 3:2-5, Jeremiah 18:1-2
Prayers are without ceasing because there are many things we can do while praying (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is a secret ritual (Matthew 6:5-6). By prayer we engage God for performance of signs and wonders, great and mighty things which we do not know (Matthew 7:7, Jeremiah 33:3). However, it is important to “Be Properly Positioned” while praying. “The confidence we have in approaching God is that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him” (1John 5:14-15). When you are properly positioned by God, He will meet you at that very point He has kept you; but if you are wrongly positioned, the hand of God cannot reach you.
Many people are not properly positioned and that is the reason why many experience depression, sorrow or distress and all kinds of tragic moments in life. Only God knows what you need, where you need to go and how you can be joyful; that is why the bible in Psalm 127:1 says “unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” Who is better to direct your steps than God? It does not matter how little that decision is: consult God for “the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear” ( Isaiah 59:1).
If you are properly positioned by God, He will guide you through your day to day activities, in your career, business, marriage, education and in whatsoever that concerns you; for God shall fight your battles that you may hold your peace (Exodus 14:14). Every time you are properly positioned, God watches over you and will neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4), He leads you to your daily blessings. Psalm 68:19 says “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.” God blesses the one He positions until he/she ascertains all round rest (1 Kings 5:4, Joshua 21:44); even in the midst of trouble He is with you to deliver and honour you (Psalm 91:15).
Some people are meant to be in Nigeria but they are abroad because that is where they felt to be; there are people that were meant to be packing garbage but they don’t feel like they want to be there.
There was once a Professor that was using his car as “taxi”. The man met a Prophet who told him that nothing good can come out of him being a Professor. The Prophet told him to start selling groundnut. When things became difficult for the Professor, he considered selling groundnut. When he approached the Prophet, he was told to go and do what God wants him to do. The man started selling the groundnut. One day a General Manager that works in a groundnut oil industry was passing by and his tire punctured, while his car was getting fixed he met the man selling groundnut and after a brief conversation, the manager told the Professor that the specie of his groundnut was what his company wanted. The manager asked him if could supply 2 trucks of it. The Professor did not have money for such contract but as God who positioned the Professor had it; the manager stood for the Professor and asked the company accountant to release 50% of the contract funds—that was how the Professor was able to do the business, changed his car and built a house. He achieved what lecturing could not give him by obeying the Word of God. What if he never sold groundnut? Be properly positioned.
Where God has placed you might be frustrating to your eyes but be patient and endure for His plan cannot fail. At a point I wanted to travel and because of my brother’s comment, my passport was taken from me, that was how I did not travel again and landed in Abuja. In this same city, God has taken me to different countries.
In Genesis 39: 2-4, “the Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.” The Lord positioned him that was why he was able to obtain favour. In verse 6-7 & 10-15, “Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!”…And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her. One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house, she called her household servants. “Look,” she said to them, “this Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us! He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed. When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house.”
If Potiphar’s wife never accused Joseph, he would not have been Governor in Egypt. He endured for days, what if he went away to his father and brothers without allowing God’s purpose come into play. Joseph was tempted to lay with Potiphar’s wife, just as some of us have one enticing offer that wants to swerve us from God, but be strong and courageous for the Lord is with you (Joshua 1:9); and He has never allowed us to be tempted beyond what we can stand (1Corinthians 10:13). When God positions you, He does it in a perfect way (James 1:17). Joseph must have felt he was suffering but God positioned him for greater glory. In Genesis 39:5-6, the bible says “from the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished. So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat.” Joseph had rest but God was lifting him up for a ministerial position in Egypt; because God was with Joseph, Potiphar’s household and crops prospered. Do not look down on anyone, for there is no greater commandment than loving God and your neighbor (Mark12: 28-31).
As much as God did for Joseph, He already patterned a way out of all your troubles (Psalm 91:15), It does not matter how people hated you; God already planned how you will get out of every issues of life. If Hannah had children, she would not have prayed for Samuel (1 Samuel 1:9-28).
You have not prayed enough to have your miracle. As horrible as it is that is how your miracle will be on your time of change i.e. the more deeper the issue the more supernatural you will manifest.
A man came to a restaurant and waited a long time before he got served; because he waited a long time, he got upset as other customers were coming in and going out. The manager of the restaurant heard him shout, came out and called everyone making his food to ask “what was wrong”. The steward said his order takes time to prepare—so for us here on earth, the greater your miracle, the more the wait time. Your wait time is there so that God can chasten and properly position you; taking you from a nobody to somebody. “I urge you to stay where God has kept you”.
My daughter had a serious pain and did not go to church, that day a lady came to minister and mentioned her case, she could not be able to make it to the Sermon on time and afterwards she died. When you shift from where God has kept you for your blessings, you may miss out. You cannot be paying tithe else where and be receiving blessing in another place. Can you eat in “Mr. Biggs” and pay in “Chicken Republic” it is not done that way.
1 Kings 17:1-16, “Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.” So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the Lord came to him: “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.” So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.” “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.” Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’ ” She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.”
Although Elijah predicted the drought, he did not know how God would sustain him but waited till the Word of God came to him to go east of the Jordan. While he went, God already positioned Ravens to supply his food and he drank from the brook. “I have positioned a raven” meaning that before you get there, God already made preparations for your arrival. Raven are carnivorous in nature, so they eat meat and yet they never ate the meat that was meant for Elijah. When you are properly positioned, no devil can touch your blessings because if God be for you no one can stand against you (Romans 8:31). Any blessing that is not from God will cause you trouble because only God adds riches without sorrow (Proverbs 10:22); and He alone is able to supply your needs according to His riches in Glory (John 3:27, Philippians 4:19).
When the brook dried up, Elijah still did not know how God would sustain him, but he was patient enough to hear God the second time. At this time, God was not only sustaining him but sending him to stop the death of another person whom He wants to bless. God instructed him to go to Zarephath, where the widow was positioned to continue from where the Ravens stopped; and because the Lord wants to bless the widow of Zarephath, He sent an instruction through Elijah to ask the woman to “make something first.” The woman needed to do something to show obedience of faith. She obeyed and God delivered abundance to her door steps. In Matthew 10:42, the bible says, “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” What if the widow refused Elijah and killed herself? God has provided us with clear guideline in life through His Word, it is left for us to show forth obedience of faith and partake out of the blessings of the Lord.
Some of us go to where we think is happening. Don’t take decisions by yourself, ask for divine direction. Divine direction keeps you properly positioned. We walk according to our sight and not the direction of God. We do things because of what we think is right. Some women would enslave themselves in order to get attention of a man that has not been fashioned by God, why won’t things go amiss. Many others do something because others are doing it, did you ask God? You must begin to ask God: what actually do you want me to do? Some people say it’s packaging, do not deceive yourself. When you are in the right position, God sustains you no matter what and should you fail, God will be held liable and because God cannot fail, you cannot fail. Be patient for in your appointed time of change, the change will come (Job 14:14).
Genesis 22:9-14, “When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram[a] caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.””
Abraham was told to do a sacrifice, he went to the mountain without arguing with God. Some of us are reluctant to go where God has sent us. As he went, the Lord already positioned the ram for the sacrifice. When you are rightfully positioned by God, He will provide for you. Where has God asked you to be and you are frustrated because it is not looking as you expected? Why can’t you be patient and let His Will be done?
Sometimes we need to show God we fear Him for it is the beginning of wisdom (James 1:5). Abraham did not see the ram but he went. Just as the children of Israel before passing through the sea. They never knew the road until the power of God passed through the sea. There are roads you do not know that the Lord has kept for you. Likewise David who was not counted among his brothers. He was sent to the battle field to meet with his brother and give them food. He went despite the hate perceived from his family. In the midst of so many people, he heard Goliath, he did not see his brothers whom he was sent to, if not, he may have been discouraged from fighting Goliath. He kept his brothers food and went to fight Goliath. God properly positioned him for victory.
Have you wronged by arguing with God in that place He has positioned you?
Are you ready to be where God wants you to be? You must first be born again. Repent of your sins and return to Christ. Say! Lord Jesus I come before you a sinner, I believe You died for me and resurrected on the third day, I repent of all my sins, forgive me and cancel my name from the book of death and write it in the book of life. Thank you for saving me.
Ask God to properly position you, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Give Him thanks! for it is His Will (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
