From Grass to Grace!
Judges 16:12-18, Genesis 41:41-44, Esther 6:7-10, 1 Samuel 16:11-13, Daniel 2:46-48, 2 Samuel 9: 5-7, 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.
It is easy and more fluent in the mouth to say from grace to grass but it is difficult to say from grass to grace. God told me the devil made it difficult for men to rise but automatically the death of Christ lifted men to a glory as supposed to be; meaning it is easier to fall from grace to grass because you are already lifted up. When an individual or nation is under a curse, it doesn’t matter who the leader is until the curse is broken. The bible says that if the foundations of the righteous be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3). Now it seems like everyone has lost their glory because of the struggles we did not anticipate. But know this, it is still possible, even if it looks impossible, that men fall back into grace and return to the glory God has orchestrated.
God is able to lift you up suddenly, from your grass to an honorable situation where those who bossed you will become answerable to you i.e. making you, who was once a beggar, the source of income. Once upon a time, a man worked at a motor park, all he did was to write receipt for his boss that pays him whatever; and a day came, he got a contract that changed his life. This same man people neglected became so rich that he gifted his boss a luxurious bus. No situation is permanent.
The 11th hour is the time the ability of man has failed. The time that it looks as if nothing is left and all your friends are doing better; but at the time of your miracle, God can lift you. The children of Israel were once slaves but at the time of their miracle, God lifted them from their shame and reproach (Exodus 6:6-8). The Lord can catapult you to a place your glory cannot carry. Who said what God did for another He cannot do unto you? The bible says in Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not.” The bible also makes it clear in Hebrew 13:8 that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Your friends can call you names “never do well” but none of what they say matters. The only thing that matters most is God’s appointed time. “Behold the Heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is” (Deuteronomy 10:14).
Many in the Church are discouraged because their expectations do not match up to reality. Some are looking for jobs, changing of cars, house rent and many other things are in the minds of men. We have fasted and prayed so much. Even when we prepare for Church, we say we have had this message before. The unbelievers are enjoying lives but we have nothing to show forth. Suddenly the unbelievers are progressing and you keep asking yourself if God has forsaken you; that is the grassroot. You then might think you need to do more, so you enter into dry fasting and yet things are worse that you do not even know if you can continue. The Bible, you cannot read anymore. The one you read, you cannot understand because your head is full. At this point you are in the grass root situation. You keep asking yourself, can I continue? In Church you will be comfortably sleeping because your interest has been shut down. You start thinking if it has become a crime to be a believer. Then you start begging and borrowing from people, when God said He will bless and you shall not borrow (Deuteronomy 15:6). It becomes severe you start murmuring to God, when He has said we should not murmur (1 Corinthians 10:10). You have found yourself in the grass situation.
What should we do? Pretend that changes can’t happen? Job said “if a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come” (Job 14:14); that means there is an appointed time for things to get better. The children of Israelites prayed and quit praying because they felt God cannot answer them. At this same point, God went to Moses saying “I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by the reason of their task masters; for I know their sorrows; So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a land good and spacious, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to a place of the Canaanites, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite” (Exodus 3:7-8).
The Israelites cried and prayed for a long time and along the process of waiting on God, some died. Despite all, their children benefitted from their prayers and one thing is for sure, God did what He wanted to do.
People might have assumed the position of God in our lives, dictated for us because we are solely dependent on them. The effects have taken us from grace to grass.
At this grass situation, what do we do? Speak the word (Bible) of the Lord and wait to see what God can do.
Take a look at your life, reminisce of the past and pray this quick prayer.
Father, God Almighty, Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom is forever and Your will be done. Forgive my sins which have overtaken me and I forgive anyone who has offended me. God I am tired of this grass (Poverty, Frustration, Pride, Barrenness, and whatsoever that has held you), this place the devil has kept me. Whatsoever it is that has held me down, you demon that has held me down, that has kept me backwards. In this place you have kept me as long as Jesus remains God, I shall arise, Father set me free in Jesus name Amen!
Even the prodigal son said “I will arise and go to my Father…” (Luke 15:18a); but we shall arise out of our problems for Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Life may look miserable but none of the despondency is more than God, “For by Him were all things created” (Colossians 1:16). Thou divine children of God, speak to and command your situation in accordance to the word of God and you shall arise. Who said you cannot be promoted, no job, that you cannot build your own house? There will be a change because no one can say a thing and it comes to pass if the Lord has not commanded or authorized it (Lamentations 3:37). You can do without anyone except God.
Judges 16:12-18 says, “Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread. And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web. And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web. And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth . And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.”
Samson lost his glory out of disobedience. He was not to tell the secret of his strength. At that point, Samson the King went from glory to grass because he lost his strength and was beaten. Nevertheless, Samson did not want to remain in that place to die. Indeed, he will die in his season but his assignment was not yet completed. He was frustrated, wooed and even his eyes removed. Then He prayed a prayer of revival, which You have the time to be a partaker today. He prayed saying God grant me back my glory that I might get back into my grace, that I might be functionable even for once to take vengeance. All He had to do was to pray a prayer, an honest prayer
from his heart. He did not ask to be King of Israel but he asked to be granted the strength to fulfil his purpose. Maybe you are not where God wants you to be and it’s difficult to accomplish your life purpose. You can have the glory but dwell in the wrong places. You can be surrounded with wealth but yet poor, because you are not where God has situated you or called you to be a blessing to people; and the devil too has been manipulating you. Can you pray samson prayer today?
God grant me the grace that I might come out of this grass, that I might not be where my enemies are laughing at me.
The woman with the issue of blood was determined that something new must happen to her. She was desperate for a miracle (Mathew 9:21). Maybe you are okay with where you are but ask God to place you where you ought to be.
People’s desperation in the grass period leads then to making series of mistakes. A woman in search of a child would go to the marine kingdom for help and when she conceives, she would dedicate the child to both to marine spirits and in the Church of God; instead of waiting on her God appointed time. You cannot worship God and Mammon (Matthew 6:24).
Joseph was hated, sold into slavery, while in Prison, he depended on a man to present his case before the King and was disappointed (Genesis 40:22-23). Joseph was in his grass until the time of his showing forth and grace overtook him (Genesis 41:14-49).
Genesis 41:41-44 says, “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”
Grace allowed Joseph to be remembered and the same grace allowed him take over someone’s position with a higher prestige because he became more important in the position.
The bible also says a child was born and was taken to the wilderness till the time of His showing forth (Luke 1:80).
The grass situation is your wilderness. Cry to God and grace will find you. Egyptians are known for studies with their medicine men and priests (Acts 7:22) but when grace found Joseph, his credentials did not matter. Just like Joseph, people can insult you and yet you are greater than them. It is very possible. People can buy cars before you but when it’s your turn, you will get a newer and better one.
If God can do it for Samson, Joseph, He can also do it for you. You do not need anyone’s encouragement to be encouraged but the word of God.
Esther 6:7-10 says, “And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head: And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour. Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.”
Mordecai was once a child from a noble family in Israel. When the children of Israel went to Babylon, he became a gateman (Esther 6:12). Have you ever had a problem and the issue gave you a name? The type of issue that your name no longer matters but the problem you are facing. Mordecai reported the conspiracy against the King but was not recognized (Esther 6:2-3) because his glory was given to another. Someone can work so much and another person takes his glory. Even Esther the queen could not help Mordecai. Your divine helpers might desert you. However, a time came that Esther and Mordecai chose to pray with and for the Jews (Esther 4:16-17), God remembered them. Mordecai did not pray to leave the gate but for his life as a Jew. When grace found Mordecai, God touched the King and he was remembered and honored him (Esther 6:1-10). Mordecai also took the place of Hamman who plotted to destroy the Jews (Esther 8:2); the day God changes the order of your life, someone else who stood against you will take your place.
1 Chronicles 4:9
1 Samuel 16:11-13 says, “Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” Jesse replied, “There is still one left, the youngest; he is tending the sheep.” Samuel said to Jesse, “Send word and bring him; because we will not sit down [to eat the sacrificial meal] until he comes here.” So Jesse sent word and brought him in. Now he had a ruddy complexion, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. The Lord said [to Samuel], “Arise, anoint him; for this is he.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.”
At this time in history, the slaves catered for the sheep and Jesse allowed David to be in the field as he was rendered a slave. For the sake of David, Samuel stopped everyone including himself from sitting until David arrived.
In Jesus name, “Your enemies will receive punishment until the day of your showing forth” Amen!
David was an errand boy to his father (1 Samuel 17:17-18). He was on his way to give his brothers food when he heard Goliath defiling God’s army (1 Samuel 17:22-26); When he approached Goliath, he was mocked and yet he became a conqueror (1 Samuel 17: 42-44). Your enemies can laugh at you. The way they look at you does not matter, with God you shall conquer.
2 Samuel 9:5
Before the prayer below, should in case you are not born again or you want to return to Christ. Say! Lord Jesus I come before you a sinner, I believe You died for me and resurrected on the third day, I repent of all my sins, forgive me and cancel my name from the book of death and write it in the book of life. Thank you for saving me. Now Pray!
Pray in Jesus name “As long as God lives, I am coming out from my grass to grace and my enemies who has kept me in the grass, laughed at me shall be in pain and sorrow until I arrive to show forth” Amen.
