Hope in Hopelessness (The 11th Hour Miracle)
Daniel 3:13-18, Job 14:14, Romans 4:17-20, Mark 7:25-30, 2 Kings 4:18-27, Mark 10:47-52, Matthew 9:20-22
Hopelessness means having no expectation of good or success, lack of hope, having nothing to hold on or when things hoped for are not really there, fruitlessness. However, we must hope even when there is nothing to hope for, as a man thinketh in His heart so He is (Proverbs 23:7).
Hope in a hopeless situation is believing that God can do something when those things cannot be done.
Many years ago, when my wife and I did not have much, we were calling those things we needed even though they did not exist, that is faith (Hebrew 11:1). We named our houseboy, Koko, without seeing him. We told him to open the gate, after my wife sends him, I too will send him. We laughed about it but we were very serious. We hoped that one day, we would have our own place, our car and a house help. At this point, we could not even boast of a house, talk more of a house boy. We were just taking care of ourselves. Not too long, we had a home and lived alone, a houseboy and surprisingly, his name was Koko.
It is only you that can tell yourself that you cannot make it. No matter what anyone tells you, it does not matter because he is not your God. Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord has not spoken? (Lamentations 3:37). God acts in hopeless situations because He is the God of impossibilities (Genesis 18:14).
Do not let people tell you that it is not possible. People must have passed through the same or similar situation you have found yourself. Just have hope that your situation is not everlasting.
Once upon a time lived a woman who hoped on God for a child, she met menopause at 50 and yet after 7 years, she got pregnant. Hope in hopeless situation. Another man, a banker, lost his job, things became worse and worse until he was broken down. In his moment of hopelessness, he met someone he had helped a long time ago, who started giving him contracts and his life gradually started changing. That is what the 11th hour miracle is all about. When the miracle seems impossible, God surprises you. A woman once came to me that the doctors said her both tubes were blocked and I laughed because that is not what God said. After she did her deliverance, she went back and the doctors confirmed her tubes were very much okay. Do not let anyone make you think it is not possible.
The hopeless situation is there for God to give you hope so that your situation will become a testimony and the Lord’s name be praised. The book of John 9:1-3 talks about a blind man from his birth. The disciples asked Jesus “who did sin, this man or his father” and Jesus replied “neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him”. The man met with the word of God. Look at your situation as one that is to glorify God and not a situation that will destroy you. When you meet the word, your situation becomes settled.
Peter toiled until Jesus spoke the word for supernatural provision (Luke 5:4). Some of our situations are constructive so that God can mold us before settlement. It was after Peter toiled and returned with no fish (hopeless) that Jesus asked to use his boat. After Jesus used his boat to spread the Word, He asked Peter to cast his net for supernatural provision (Luke 5:1-7). Nowadays, nobody wants Jesus to use them. You must serve God in kingdom advancement and obedience before your needs are met. The bible speaking in the book of Matthew 6:31-33 “Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall be clothed? For all these things do the gentiles seek: for your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. We need to stop thinking that God is not ready to help us and do the right thing. Righteousness is the key to essentials of life (Proverbs 21:21); and in all give thanks, never deny yourself of thanksgiving for having life is enough reason to appreciate God (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
As a child of God in a time of hopelessness, there is hope (1 Peter 5:10, Philippians 1:6, Philippians 4:19, Proverbs 23:18). As a righteous one, believe everything happening to you is orchestrated by Heaven (Jeremiah 1:5), otherwise it cannot be. So be slow to anger (James 1:19) for you have a better life ahead, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrew 12:2).
Any situation you find yourself is not final, it’s moveable like a car. Parking a car in garage does not mean it cannot move, even if it needs fixing, it can still move.
Once upon a time a hypertensive and diabetic woman woke up on a morning and found out she was healed. God has the final say and we ought to know that healing is part of our divine nature (Isaiah 53:5).
Your friends are getting married and you feel left out, thinking God has changed address. Keep yourself for the owner will locate you. In a time of hopelessness, it looks as if you are being seen.
I have been in a situation where nothing was happening in my life. I was hungry, yet in the midst of plenty. I could not even pay for my house rent and the house was sold. On top of the matter, I was given a 2 weeks quick notice and judged in absence. I was hopeless, bitter and battered. My wife came back from work with another bad news, the same day someone in my house died and I kept praying until the person woke up. All happened in a hopeless situation. A Pastor came and told me that God has answered my prayer, yet there was nothing to eat. Despite all the challenges, in a very short while, everything was a testimony; I was not removed out of the house because instead of my eviction, I was given a free rent. In your hopelessness God is doing something.
Quick Prayer: God in this hopeless situation, I need an urgent attention.
Daniel 3:13-18, says “Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego. Then they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up”.
The one who is saying nothing good will happen to you is daring your Father in Heaven. In Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego’s situation, there was no hope, God did not talk to them; yet, they stood their ground for God. In their hopeless situation, they believed the hand of God will reach them. Believe God that you can be lifted up no matter the situation. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego were ready to die for God, they prepared their minds at all cost to not bow down to the gods of King Nebuchadnezzar, even if God did not save them. Do you allow situations to turn you away from God?
You may have been brought before a deity as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego were brought before King Nebuchadnezzar; but who is that deity, spirit, power or person that feels like god in your life, the one that feels like without them you cannot live? Who is he to say a thing when the Lord has not spoken? (Lamentations 3:37).
Be patient for your appointed time can be now. Job said “if a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come” (Job 14:14); There is always a time for a change. Nothing is permanent except the word of God. Bible says that Heaven and earth will pass away but the word of the Lord remains (Matthew 24:35). Even King Nebuchadnezzar recognized Christ in the midst of the fire (Daniel 3:25). In the same manner, spirits, powers and principalities recognize the presence of God. Bible makes it clear that our Father who makes us complete is the Head of Principalities and power (Colossians 2:10).
Having hope in God is believing in Him, having total Faith and Trust in Him.
You need faith to operate in the supernatural. You must believe God in order to access His blessings accrued unto you. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In times of hopelessness, you must have faith in God, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Matthew 9:20-22: “And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour”. If she did not exercise faith, she would not have gotten her healing. Faith resulted to hope in hopelessness.
Again, in the book of Mark 10:47
Out of faith, the blind man conquered through the Word. One unique act in both stories of the blind man and the woman with the issue of blood is the fact that people despised them (the woman with the issue of blood was seen as diseased and the blind man was told to keep quiet and to hold his peace); but Christ accepted them. Just as the woman taken in adultery who could have been stoned to death in John 8:3-5. In verse 11, Jesus said unto her “…neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more”.
We must also show concern and willingness to get out of our problem. Jesus did not force miracle on anyone. He asked the blind man in Mark 10:47-52, what he wanted. The woman with the issue of blood out of desperation went forth to collect her miracle.
In Mark 7:25 The woman could have given up thinking that Jesus would not help her but she insisted with faith saying “yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs”. Do not let your faith doubt or waver in unbelief.
The bible in Romans 4:17-220, says “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the sight of Him in whom he believed, that is, God who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. In hope against hope Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “S o [numberless] shall your descendants be.” Without becoming weak in faith, he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb. But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God”.
Abraham instead of doubting God like how most of us will do when we are not seeing the blessings of God, his faith grew even stronger giving glory to God. The mistake we make is to allow the devil mesmerize us. Do not give room to faithlessness. Cast your burden unto the Lord (Psalm 55:22) and wait for your appointed time (Job 14:14).
Pray: Before the prayer below, should in case you are not born again or you want to return to Christ. Say! Lord Jesus I come before you a sinner, I believe You died for me and resurrected on the third day, I repent of all my sins, forgive me and cancel my name from the book of death and write it in the book of life. Thank you for saving me. Now Pray!
Pray! (Sit down on the floor a lone or kneel while you pray this prayer)
Lord Jesus! my problems have brought me down to my knees; As I speak, Father answer, for he that asks, receives (Luke 11:10). (Begin to remember and present all your problems to God). Ask for answers and help from the Holy Spirit, our Helper (John 14:26). Bible said Jabez called on God and God granted Him that which He requested (1 Chronicles 4:10). Now begin to speak to God.
